If you are not familiar with the term ‘knowledge economy’, please become so. We are not suffering from Obama or Bush economic policies, but from shifting economic eras. It is convenient and tempting – but WRONG – to attribute current economic woes to one political party or another, to outsourcing or to off-shoring.

Most office workers nowadays use more than one computer which generates all-too-common problems–not the least of which is the problem of remembering the links to all of the critical web sites you need to visit on a regular basis. This solution is so simple and the benefit is so great I can’t believe everyone isn’t already using one service or another. My solution is Foxmarks, but there are numerous others.

LastPass is a free online password manager and Form Filler that makes your web browsing easier and more secure. LastPass supports IE and Firefox as Plugins (Opera, Safari, Chrome, iPhone, Opera Mini via Bookmarklets), allows you to import from every major password storage vendor and export too, captures passwords that other managers won’t including many AJAX forms, and allows you to make strong passwords easily. Your sensitive data is encrypted _locally_ before upload so even LastPass cannot get access to it. One Time Passwords & Screen Keyboard help protect your master password.

By Joel Evans | June 25, 2010, 3:34am PDT

One of my favorite and most used apps for iPhone is RedLaser. The main reason is that it has saved me a ton of money since I first downloaded it for 99 cents.

If you’re not familiar with RedLaser, you simply launch the app and then hold your iPhone so that the bar code of the item you want to scan is in view of the iPhone’s camera. Seconds later it does a lookup to the internet and shows you the prices that the item is selling for at various stores and internet sites. My favorite moment was when I used it to scan a cordless phone package at Best Buy only to find that same cordless phone on sale on BestBuy.com. Moments later I showed the scan to the cashier and she price matched.
