Here’s the grow light rigging I created in the basement. Note the two pieces of 1×3 wood spanning two florescent fixtures. Each fixture has one ‘grow’ bulb and one ‘normal’ florescent bulb. There is a pulley at either end on the wooden spanners, and pulleys on the ceiling joists as well.
The pulley system allows easy plant access for watering and tending. It allows me to slope the lights to accommodate plants of differing heights. This system has proven excellent to work with and the light bulbs have yielded very strong and nicely colored plants. The lights are on a timer which provides 18 hours of illumination each day.
